Custom Order

I have been favouring silhouettes for a while now and have them featured on some coasters, cushions and framed screen prints in the shop. A girl came into the shop on Saturday and asked if i could put a print of a silhouette onto a t-shirt. I couldn't believe i hadn't thought to make some of these up sooner. I suppose with so many things to do and think about i sometimes don't think of all the possible ways i could apply my designs. But here is the t-shirt print. I think it looks pretty damn good, even if i do say so myself and im thinking of getting some more printed as soon as possible to go on sale in the shop.... and possibly one just for me. What do you think?

Shop>> New Additions

Well it looks like i had forgotten about my blog for a couple of days or weeks.... i don't know i've lost track.

Anyway im here now! So i thought i'd share with you some new additions to my shop in The Corner Emporium shop.
In my last post i had just got a lovely new typewriter in a beautiful black case. I totally wanted to keep it for myself and was contemplating taking the price tag off and swapping it for a 'display only sign'. The typewriter had only been in the shop 3 days and it was snapped up by a student from CCAD who loved it equally as much as i did, so i had to let it go. At least it was going to a good home and was going to get some use (the girl was using it in one of her college projects) and i suppose if i had taken it home it would have just sat on my desk. But don't be sad because there are 2, yes 2!!! new typewriters in the shop.

I just finished making up this cushion and put it out on display this afternoon. The bicyle is screen printed onto a thick pink linen and patterned fabrics appliqued on.

Since everyone has been asking to buy the bunting i have for decoration around the shop and people always want to buy the piles of fabric i have folded on my shelves i decided to kill two birds with one stone and have made some of my very own bunting for sale!

So if you are local or in the area make sure you come down to The Corner Emporium and have a look. There is not only my shop there, The Corner Emporium showcases 9 businesses ranging from arts & crafts to baby clothes and even fudge!
And even if you have been down before you should come back as there is always new stock arriving/being made.

Shop>> New Addition

After printing a black silhouette onto a cushion i had the urge to do another one and i thought a man in a top hat would make a great silhouette. So i drew out a design and printed it onto a linen fabric and framed it in a baroque/ rococo style black frame.
A new typewriter arrived in the shop yesterday afternoon. It comes with this lovely, sturdy black carry case.

New Additions

So like a said i have recently been having a little switch around in the shop. I am making more stock and having more and more ideas i am wanting to do some lifestyle merchandising; putting my products in a setting that they are intended for. Such as displaying cushions on chairs and just adding some more homey touches to the shop.

I have revamped an old stool and little table that i had and bought from a local charity shop. Painted on some colourful eye catching paint and sanded one of them down to give it a distressed look.

Two new cushions & new pink stool

Flo Rida

Back in November time i made cushions and flat samples for my Final Major Project at college.

One of the flat samples was Florida themed, the only reason it was a flat sample rather than a cushion was due to lack of time. After the project had been handed in my Mum asked if she could have the Florida sample for our home in Florida. Rather than just framing or hanging it i made it into a cushion.

Here it is in its new home.

what i've been up to...

I have been busy designing a new cushion similar to the style of my San Francisco, Vegas and Paris cushions. I have just begun screen printing onto fabric and am about to add some colour and texture with a bit of machine embroidery.
Can you guess the theme of this cushion?... hmmmm

I'll post a photo of the finished product soon!

Bulldog Print

A British inspired print which i have then embroidered into.
This design was originally created for a lamp which i printed for a friend but i like the bulldog so much im experimenting with framing some of the prints and printing them onto cushions. Stay tuned.

screen printing

So since college i have been dying to do some screen printing from home.
Once all my printing supplies arrived i was ready to go.
I coated my screen and put together a make shift darkroom in my garage to allow the emulsion to dry but not expose, all of which was particularly easy. Now came the difficult part... exposing my screen. Being used to putting my screen in an exposure unit for a couple of minutes i didn't realise how time consuming perfecting the exposure time would be. After 6 attempts at expoing my screen and having to strip, dry and re-coat i think i finally figured out how long to leave my screen in the sun for. However times will vary with weather conditions (this week has been super sunny)

The garage has been transformed into my own printing studio, much to the annoyance of my Dad.
